How to edit a poem
Ifunanya Georgia
First, buy a broom to sweep
out excess adjectives.
A chisel and hammer too.
You’ll need to smoothen
rough edges, hit open doors,
in the middle of nowhere.
Next: save some metaphors
to hide your tears.
You’ll get rejected.

Ifunanya Georgia Ezeano is an author, writer, and poet. She hails from Anambra state, Nigeria. She works (volunteering) with Poets in Nigeria (PIN) and Writers space Africa-Nigeria(WSA-N). She has been published in the Society of young Nigerian writers' RAPE anthology and other literary magazines. She is a psychology student from the University of Nigeria Nsukka. She is the author of Naked; a poetry collection, Thorns and petals, and other unpublished works.
